Transamerica

Contract Position
Transamerica
UX Designer
Mar 2023 - Oct 2023
My work as a UX Designer with Transamerica involved conducting client interviews to clarify ambiguous project requirements, rapidly prototyping in Figma/Miro to reflect requirement discovery and working with business to obtain multiple approvals for development efforts.

The Solution
I recognized that redesigning only for the most commonly used product in the Transamerica product suite might again lead to internally inconsistent registrations and obtained approval from my stakeholders to expand the scope of design to more products, while only implementing the outcome for the most commonly used product at the time of the project.
The Problem
Transamerica's registration process at time of hire was both outdated and internally inconsistent with other Transamerica products. Business requested that design modernize the registration flow for only the largest/most commonly used product.
The Process
The first thing that I needed in this position was an understanding of the business and learning the ins and outs of the various products that Transamerica offers (which is a lot).
After understanding just how complex and varied the products are, I knew that I wanted to expand the scope of design so that Transamerica could avoid the situation of inconsistent registrations for different products in the future. I raised my concern and solution to my stakeholders and was successful in persuading them to expand my scope
In the end, I was able to take a large number of fields across multiple products and formalize a consistent information architecture to create a modular enrollment flow that can be quickly and easily adapted to everchanging legal requirements and product stack from Transamerica.
